Anime Right Semi-notorious hacker group, The Dark Overlord announced on New Years Eve via Pastebin it's latest data breach. According to Motherboard, the breach claims to be in possession of at least 18,000 internal documents from several insurers and law firms handling the September 11 on the World Trade Center attacks including big names like Hiscox Sydnicates LTD, Loyds of London and Silverstien Properties (oy vey!).
The documents in question are host to an array of enities such as: first responders seeking compensation for on site contaminants, the owners of the WTC looking to collect on the airlines, and victims looking to supeoma the Saudi Arabian government into US court.
We don't know for sure how the documents were leaked but a spokesperson for the Hiscox Group confirmed to Motherboard that the hackers had breached a law firm that advised the company, likely stolen files related to litigation around the 9/11 attacks, and that the law firm’s systems are not connected to Hiscox’s IT infrastructure and Hiscox’s own systems were unaffected by this incident.
This latest breach no doubt has law firms scratching their big brains on how to properly handle the leak. The Hacker Group stated that they are only looking to gain some Bitcoin, that this is not motivated by political reasons and will be releasing the documents publicly capitializing on the 9/11 conspiracy if their demands are not met.
