Goblin Slayer Triggers NPC Lolcows With Brutal First Episode

But in the end, the only good goblins are the ones who never come out of their holes.

The debut episode of the dark fantasy anime Goblin Slayer, has caused a mass triggering of NPC snowflakes on Twitter. The episode quickly takes a dark turn, and that has obviously caught the snowflakes, who have not read the manga, off guard. They were expecting a lighthearted MMO type fantasy, however the series is more of a dark fantasy in the style of right wing vigilantism, after a female adventurer is gang raped by goblins.

The goblins are an entirely parasitic race that require a human female host in order to reproduce, they attack villages and abduct females. Their behaviour is easily comparable to African and middle eastern rapefugees in Europe, and certainly comparable to MS-13 in the US. They also share some physical characteristics with certain protected groups.

It didn’t take long for the Twitter NPC mob to voice their outrage, picking up on the real world parallels with immigration, calling it fascist. And accusing it of promoting rape culture, a clear strawman, as the goblins were depicted as evil and disturbing. It clearly doesn’t conform to their pre programmed world view and dialogue scripting.

The outrage from the NPC mob on Twitter has been so great that social justice outlet Crunchyroll have added a warning on future episodes of Goblin Slayer in order to satisfy their snowflake audience.

Goblin Slayer starts off in a lighthearted MMO style, but quickly turns into a more dark experience that is more like Dark Souls in comparison , as the episode progresses. The Goblin Slayer, who simply goes by the name Goblin Slayer, is completely focused  on only hunting goblins, with a single minded hatred, ignoring all other monsters.  The reasons for this are explained somewhat in his backstory in episode two.

Although only two episodes in, Goblin Slayer, with its anti immigration sentiment and the right  wing  vigilante  aesthetic, that has  triggered the Twitter snowflakes so effectively, is certainly  looking like /ouranime/.

  1. I personally did skipped this manga after the rape scene, not because of any ideological problem with depicting rape on media but when an author uses tropes of another genre to build up a false expectation of what his work is going to be about only to theatrically destroy that expectation for maximum shock value, to me it really looks downright ridiculous.

“Why do we have a party of teenage girls trying to kill these things if they can gang rape people ? This is so dumb.” is what passed through my mind at time.

    1. The retardation of women in relation to goblins is actually an ongoing theme in the manga. There are direct parallels with rapeugees. At several points in the light novel,,/manga you see the smarter goblins gloat about how dumb women are to believe and forgive them when they cry about persecution anD beg for forgiveness. It truly is a commentary on our time

    2. See you think it’s unbelievable but it’s straight up rapeugee posting: the anime. The light novel/manga goes out of its way to point out that the women are stupid and will believe the goblins. You even see the internal monologue of a smarter goblin at one point as it laughs over how retarded the women are to believe him when he says to them that he’ll never do it again. It’s literally a commentary on refugees welcome bullshit.

      1. I see.

I still believe the author could have done a better job, what he did with the first chapter of the manga reminds me of what happened with the game Spec Ops: The line, where the creator openly fooled the audience into thinking they were about to consume a certain type of product and then just pivoted to something else while expecting the audience to take it in good stride that they had been had with, as if it was “part of the experience”.

If i had actually payed money for this expecting a non-violent JRPG type of universe, i would be severally pissed.

        1. Goblin Slayer is actually like lucky, thousands of NPCs brought Spec Ops: The line thinking they were in for a regular COD-like experience and instead found a completely different game.

I liked Spec Ops: The line because i brought it knowing exactly what it was, i believe virtually anyone that will enjoy Goblin Slayer will do the same.

There is no need to fool people like this, it doesn’t help your product, it doesn’t help the story, it just creates a bunch of pissed off detractors that tell as much people that will listen that your product is garbage, and not all of them are Left-wing.

          1. I don’t think it was fooling anybody though. Kinda like Spec Ops, if people actually looked up anything, they would see what kind of product it was. It’s hard to have a blind release to the public anymore. When people don’t pay attention and blindly consume, they get butthurt.

I do believe the people who adverted Goblin Slayer as PG were dumbfucks. Beyond that, I see nothing wrong here. Just because it has standard jap-fantasy appearance… that is our assumption from crap like Gate. I took 30 seconds to look it up, listed as DARK FANTASY. So I’m glad to see a fantasy setting were monsters are FUCKING MONSTERS The light novel (the original source) handles the rape well, meaning, barely mentioned. The people adapting the novel are more to blame for the sensationalism.

As are the blind sheeple who can’t handle things like truth, or be bothered to learn about something before they dive in. Sure this might be antifreeze, it looks neat, imma gonna drink it. That what little kids do. Spec Ops was fucking awesome, too.
