Shadowban (definition via Urban Dictionary)
"Banning a user from a web forum in such a way that the banned user is unaware of the ban. Usually takes the form of showing that user's posts/profile/etc. only to that user; other users never see them. Considered underhanded chicken-shit behavior."
The easiest way is to check if you are shadowbanned on Twitter is by using their search function. Search Twitter for yourself while you are logged out.
Search for "from:yourusername" and if none of your tweets show up in the results and you are not displayed in "people" section then you are being shadowbanned.
Another way to check if your hashtagged tweets are being seen by non-followers is to search the for the hashtag using your browser's incognito mode or another browser right after you post something. I suggest using a device you do not log into twitter with.
Another way is to use twitters own analytics system.
We have word that Twitter will soon be making modifications to skew this with their new rank down system.
Click your Avatar picture next to the search bar, find analytics
Access your Tweet activity:
- On a desktop or laptop computer, visit analytics.twitter.com and click on Tweets.
- In the Twitter app for iOS or Android, tap the analytics icon visible in your Tweets. Make sure you have installed the latest version of Twitter for iPhone, iPad, or Twitter for Android.
Once you click analytics look to see if your tweets show up
If your tweets show up you are not shadowbanned
If nothing shows up in any of the fields
Tweets or Tweets and replies
Then you are shadowbanned
You also won't see any bar graphs for your impressions (although you may still see numbers and boy will they drop)
