Cinder Fall is one of the main antagonists of RWBY and the primary antagonist of the Beacon Arc.
Her associates include her subordinates Mercury Black, Emerald Sustrai, the criminal Roman Torchwick, and Adam Taurus, a high-ranking member of the White Fang. Her machinations are the driving force behind the events of the first 3 volumes of RWBY.
But many of the series fans are starting to ask, is Cinder Right?
The four Maidens are the hosts of a vast natural power that has existed in Remnant for thousands of years. They are said to be the physical embodiment of the four seasons.
It is not known if the four different Maidens have different powers, or if they all possess the same powers.
When speaking of her power, Cinder also mentions that she could "use it in ways you could never have imagined", suggesting that she has discovered a way to use her power more effectively than other hosts.
The power of the Maidens is independent of Dust use and distinct from a Semblance, drawing comparisons to "magic". It is, however, tied to each Maiden's Aura in some way. The Maidens are also each tied to a Relic, designated either through power or design to be the only ones who can open the chambers that the Relic is hidden in. Spring can access Knowledge, Fall: Choice, Summer: Destruction, and Winter: Creation.
But instead of allowing nature or the people to choose a successor, the headmasters of the 4 nations of Remnant decided that they should be able to choose the next Maiden, thereby cementing their power over the world of Beacon.
Cinder, and Salem (her mother) have taken issue with this, as the 4 nations have begun misusing the magical power that runs the world of Remnant, this power is known as Dust.
The name "Dust" is implied to be a reference to the primordial state from which mankind was born. As a natural resource, it is sometimes poetically referred to as "Nature's Wrath", or more prosaically as an energy propellant.
While we still don't know how the moon of Remnant was shattered, some have theorized it was due to human interference caused by reckless experiments with Dust.
Cinder is not like her powerful mother Salem, but is still struggling with the aspect of Choice given to her by her newfound Maiden's power.
Cinder knew the elite of Remnant had stolen the Maidens powers from the people and decided that in order to wake the people up, she would have to become what others feared.
With help from her squad, including an assassin, thief, and silent knight, she made the choice to fight where others could not, directly from the top.
After defeating the militarized AI known as Penny, she then went on to honorably defeat Remnants most powerful warrior Pyrrha Nikos in one on one battle, freeing and allowing Remnant to be everything it was meant to be.
