On Wednesday, January 10, the US Department of State under the direction of President Trump expanded the list of regions of the world that American citizens should not travel to. Out of the 31 Mexican states, 16 have now been added to either the “level 3” category of risk or the “level 4” category of risk. At “level 3” risk the State Department encourages American Citizens to “reconsider travel” to those areas and at the “level 4” risk the State Department urges citizens to not travel to those areas based on immediate danger. Mexico as a whole country remains at the “level 2” rating which the State Department advises travelers to “exercise increased caution” in these areas.
