Anime Right News (ARN) — Deplorable Pepe, who goes by the twitter handle @todd_cuck, has started his annual #FakeNewsMadness tournament. The tournament, in it’s second year, pits the best of the best in the Lugenpresse against each other for the title of Fake News Madness National Champion.
The brackets, like for the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament, are split up into 4 regions, Cable, Print, Network, and Digital.
Last year saw CNN’s Jake Tapper defeating Hentai Officianado, Kurt Eichenwald in the finals.
I sat down with the director of the tournament to have a little chat and pick his brain on the future of Fake News.
"Animeright News is Real News btw." Explained Deplorable Pepe, if our readers were wondering why none of our Journalists were included in the tournament.
So, where did the motivation come from to start this tournament?
"Originally from Indiana, so basketball is culturally ingrained. Figured if the shitlibs could take football, why can't we take basketball from them, especially since the cheap labor subsidizes college indoctrination. Fake News was the easiest to use for this purpose because there's so many of them. Seeding them is the hard part. We had to omit Bill Maher, Talcum X, & Maggie Haberman this year. I tell everyone if you don't like the seeding I was accepting nominations for the month up to the tournament. A request usually gets into the tournament bc the fans should have a say."
Yes, I was just about to ask. How do you decide the seeding? Is there criteria or is it up to you? I see there's nominations.
"Criteria is straight forward. There's four regions. You fit into one of the four. A few rules to keep it simple. HBO counts as Cable region. Any personality who works for a cable outlet, even if digital only, is only eligible for cable region. Must have still been active after the end of the last tournament, which is why Charlie Rose + Matt Lauer get a farewell tour. PBS counts for network. On seeding, any nomination that I get usually makes it in bc it's for the fans. Then, I just rank each region. Last year saw Lee Camp of RT bc of a nomination. This year's was tough in the cable region. Seeds 4-13 probably could have been seeded in any order because fake news CNN is just that competitive. I do look at last year's results and factor that in."
Who is your pick to win it this year? Any dark horse candidates you see making an impact and making it far past their seed?
"Keep an eye on Chris Ingraham, 6 seed in Print Region. He's the second journalist to tweet about it, celebrating his win. Drawing attention might help your odds of winning."
"I'd also like Chuck Todd's chances. Getting the President to call you a sob has got to improve your odds."
I'm pulling for Joy Reid myself, she has shared Anime Right News before, I have a soft spot for her.
"LMAO. I'm pulling for Janelle Ross myself. She got my previous account banned. I know she won't win against Eichenwald, but would be nice to see her in the elite 8."
What does the victor get out of this? Is there a prize for winning or just bragging rights among other Beltway Elitists?
"I sent a Pepe Trophy & Pepe stuffed animal to CNN HQ in Atlanta as a prize, attention to Jake Tapper. Never heard back. As a result, this year's prize is a box of Kleenex so they can wipe their tears. Not dropping another $100."
