Redpills on Economic Populism: Boomers Ruined the World

Most boomer-cons consider any attempt to meddle in the economy literally the same as a command economy. They will reflexively resist any change with a knee jerk retort, “BUT THE GDP IS SO MUCH HIGHER NOW.” Anyone worth their salt will recognize GDP as a flawed measure of a country’s success; that said you are probably wondering how to articulate tangible losses to the average person. Here we will address a few failings of the global capitalist model to hopefully redpill some free-market fundamentalists.

The housing market is totally fucked due to inflation, overvaluation, and increased demand from immigration. In 1969 the average house cost of a home that was sold was $25,000. (According to the US census) Nowadays a similar house would cost 300k or even 400k. Obviously, boomers will argue that a dollar went much farther back in the day. So let's adjust for inflation: $176,250. That's right, the average cost of a home sold is almost half of what it is today.

Annual income for young workers is another area that has been absolutely savaged by globalism and the elders who allowed it to happen when they didn't hold their governments responsible. In 1975 the average male made $38,000 a year compared to just $35,000 today. This despite young people, by and large, are far more educated than are boomers. 37% of males have bachelor's degrees today compared to 22% of people working in 1975. This decrease in wages comes on the heels of an increased cost of living.

Another huge problem in today's society is the concentration of wealth. The only wages that rose in the last 30 years happened in the highest tier of earners while everyone else made less or stayed the same. That means more shitty bankers and billionaires have more money to fund shitty leftist causes AND increase their wealth even further by lobbying for 3rd world scab labor.

It should be pretty obvious from these statistics, that we at least need to have a conversation about the role global capitalism has in our society. And no. I'm not a communist. But the government does have a role to play within capitalism and it's to keep the big monopolies busted down. It has failed to do so. No matter what form of government, it's a certainty that some bad person(s) will find a way to subvert it. Ergo; the only single correct form of government is ever changing. The majority census of the people would easily dictate this and it is referred to as Populism. Stop dividing yourselves, guys. It's time to stop living the meme and start living your lives.
