Starting Sunday afternoon Twitter began taking down NPC meme accounts on their platform under the suspicion of being bot accounts.
The NPC meme is a relatively new meme but has taken off amongst anonymous users on social media platforms. RightWingWatch.org has already done a story about the NPC meme and are claiming its a right wing tool to “dehumanize those who do not hold their far-right beliefs.” This article was released 2 days ago and can be found here: https://archive.fo/UkYtz.
The Twitter user @josh_emerson seems to be especially invested in taking down these meme accounts. He has tagged Twitter safety in many tweets related to NPC meme accounts and has gone so far as to create a mass block and ban list of all NPC accounts he could collect and share it to the public for them to block and report to get them taken down.
The effectiveness of this meme seems to be the thing that scares the left to this kind of desperation.
Still No Word From Jack
Jack, nor any of the official Twitter accounts have made tweets about how these types of accounts are breaking any Terms of Services. Even if we were to play by the obvious bias that Twitter has against right-wing accounts, the article from RightWingWatch 2 days ago proves that they are well aware that these accounts are not "bot" accounts. An effective meme has come onto the platform weeks before the midterm elections and conveniently 2 days after it is exposed to leftists in an article, they are all getting removed from Twitter.
The popular 4chan board /pol has also been actively deleting threads pertaining to the NPC memes as well. Here are some archive links to threads that were either deleted or posts were removed:
