President Trump appointed his 2nd pick for Supreme Court Justice Judge Brett Kavanaugh on July 9th, 2018. Much like his previous pick Judge Gorsuch, the Democrat party have done everything in their limited power to make the confirmation process as drawn out and painful as possible. Protests from the outrage mob let loose outside of the hearing. 70 protesters were arrested according to Capitol Police. There is some understanding among left-leaning extremists that if Kavanaugh is appointed to the supreme court, that all of the freedoms that they enjoy as Americans will be stripped from them and women will be chained into their kitchens forced to be housewives. So the obvious loud and obnoxious protesters tried and sometimes succeeded to interrupt the hearing to wave their signs and screech before being arrested.
A couple protesters decided to dress up in weird Halloween costumes to represent.... That they watch Hulu or something.
Even everyone's favorite domestic terrorist Linda Sarsour came to show her disapproval. Not that anyone ever asks her too.
The Hearing Did Actually Happen
Judge Kavanaugh sat patiently and respectfully awaiting the verbal abuse that he was about to endure by the Democrats. Democrat Senators one after another urged that the hearings be delayed until they are prepared (when that will be, was never specified).
Democrat Senator Dick Durbin said to Kavanaugh: "For the sake of this nation, for the sanctity of the Constitution that we both honor, step up, ask this meeting, this gathering to suspend until all the documents of your public career are there for the American people to see." This statement coming after 42,000 relevant documents were released to the senators the night before, but all of the Republican senators claimed to have had no problem reading into. Only the Democrat Senators seem to have zero interest in the documents that they were granted. Another big issue brought up to try and smear Judge Kavanaugh was a statement he had made regarding sitting presidents and investigations.
“I believe it vital that the President be able to focus on his never-ending tasks with as few distractions as possible. The country wants the President to be ‘one of us’ who bears the same responsibilities of citizenship that all share. But I believe that the President should be excused from some of the burdens of ordinary citizenship while serving in office,” argued Kavanaugh in an article. He then went onto write “the indictment and trial of a sitting President, moreover, would cripple the federal government, rendering it unable to function with credibility in either the international or domestic arenas. Such an outcome would ill serve the public interest, especially in times of financial or national security crisis.”
Democrats are using this statement to say that the only reason that Trump wants Kavanaugh appointed so quickly is so that Kavanaugh well help to potentially save Trump later.
Surprisingly, Senator Lindsey Graham(R) had the hottest takes of the hearing
When a Republican senator was able to speak, they would mention how happy they were that Kavanaugh was the pick that was sitting in front of them. They would point to his esteemed past and all that he has accomplished. It was often brought up how impressed the senators were how well he had presented himself amongst such a verbal assault he had faced during the hearing.
Tomorrow on 9/5 the hearing will commence and Senators will be asking Kavanaugh questions that he will actually be allowed to answer.
