Donald Trump is the leader of the free world and now every celebrity and their mothers think that they have a shot at being the next President of the United States. From Mark Cuban to Mark Zuckerberg heck, Kanye West has been dropping hints at running for the highest office in the Country. Mark Zuckerberg has even gone as far as hiring a former Hillary Clinton pollster. Your guess is as good as mine if any of these men are going to actually run for president or if like most celebrities, they cannot handle a news cycle that is completely void of their names. Oprah Winfrey, however, has been throwing herself into the middle of the very volatile environment that is mainstream politics in the current year of 2017. On Sept. 29 Oprah tweeted at John Podhoretz “Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!” in relation to his NY Post article that heaped lavish praise all over O and made, though I hate to admit it, a fairly compelling case for her to run for POTUS in 2020.
The DNC is in shambles and only time will tell what the investigation into Imran Awan yields. There are no Democratic politicians that can take on President Trump in 2020 and compete except for maybe Tulsi Gabbard but she has not expressed any interest in running. Trump is a white male. Oprah, a black female. She is the idealistic candidate to capitalize on the left’s identity politics and already has her own cult following. She can bost highest-rated talk show in American History (13.1 million viewers daily) and an entire Television network named after her. Born to a single mother in Mississippi, she landed a job as an anchor at local news station at the age of 19 and since then has turned herself into the world’s largest media mogul. Take five minutes and read through her Wikipedia page, a collection of buzzwords that would make any progressive leftist weak at the knees.
Oprah is now a correspondent on 60 Minutes and CBS is BEGGING her to replace alleged serial sexual harasser Charlie Rose as a co-host on CBS This Morning. Why the sudden turn to politics after all this time in the limelight? In the era of Trumpism who knows? Oprah leading the Democratic Ticket come 2020 would not surprise me in the slightest. We better start thinking of better memes than this. 2020 could get wonky.
