Anime Right News (ARN) — A few hours ago (1:47pm Aug 24th local Aussie time) fringe politician/rich business guy, Clive Palmer, tweeted a tacit endorsement of Anime. There are no explicit mentions of anime on any of Palmer’s social media personas or political party website, but AnimeRight’s researchers are confident this tweet was a dog whistle and the policies mentioned are implicitly pro anime.
Who Is Clive Palmer?
Palmer launched a new party, United Australia Party. It's a rebrand of his personal party from a few years ago that he served in parliament under, Palmer United Party.
His policies are odd compared to familiar political paradigms. In a TLDR, Palmer's policies can be described as:
- Doesn't like Rupert Murdoch or Obama
- Faggy social programs (equal gender representation)
- Not anti-refugee
- Pro-business (private businessman - knows how to stimulate the economy)
- Nationalistic
- Anti special interests & anti-lobbyist
- Self-funded
- Pro-natal
- "Make Australia Great" signs
Full party ideology outlined here.
Aside from the social and racial egalitarian programs he seems 'okay'. But of course, it's difficult to tell which policy positions are genuine and which are to boost poll numbers. Maybe he is a sleeper hit or a negative force - time will tell. At the end of Palmer's speech regarding the national budget of 2013, he said profound words that his whole brand SHOULD be about:
That GDP should not be the metric by which quality of life is measured.
The fire rises!
