Anime Right News (ARN) — The ‘far left’ publications AnimeNewsNetwork and AnimeHerald cried bloody murder over a typical and harmless ‘kill yourself’ archetype meme directed at CloverWorks‘ animation producer Yūichi Fukushima. What provoked the bantz against Fukushima you ask?
After the release of the 14th episode of the DARLING in the FRANKXX series, Fukushima wrote a tweet claiming that the ending of the episode was “very good” (loss in translation); but some fans disagree.
Check out the #Bitchigo hashtag for more tweets (there will be spoilers).
Figuratively Vs. Literally
The leftist press picked up this story and are claiming Fukushima is a victim of a literal death threat because of a tweet with the character ZeroTwo holding a gun. Fukushima is not a victim! Rhetorically telling someone to 'kill themselves' online, verbally or with an image, is part and parcel of the online ecosystem. And contrary to what these discredited news outlets say, banter like this isn't about literally calling for the death of a person at all. It's a call for the death of that person's ego or opinion. It is exactly the same thing as when Hilary Clinton tweeted at Trump, "Delete your account." Completely harmless!
Non-leftists have the habit of speaking figuratively instead of literally and the leftist press constantly misinterprets this while coming off as grossly out of touch.
