“As with any animal that is rabid, Steve King should be set aside and isolated” – Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush
“What Steve King said was stupid. It was stupid, it was hurtful, it was wrong. And he needs to stop it. I think all of us ought to be united regardless of party in saying white supremacism, white nationalism is hatred, it is bigotry, it is evil, it is wrong. And I think we need that clarity. And I’m certainly going to urge everyone to provide that clarity.” – Ted Cruz
We’ve all heard his quote by now “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization – how did that language become offensive?” Since this question, the GOP, conservative personalities, and the left have come out and attacked Steve King for his remark. King later clarified by stating he didn’t understand how these terms, these labels, were used as attacks on people.
The double standard of these labels is obvious to many now.
The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution on the disapproval of King’s comments. King even voted for it, but he still argues against being removed from committee assignments of Agriculture, Small Business, and Judiciary, calling it an attack on his free speech. The total was 424-1. Bobby Rush voted no and wanted to censure King.
Ultimately, Steve King considers himself a nationalist.
Under any fair political definition, I am simply a Nationalist. This conviction does not make me a white nationalist or a white supremacist. Once again, I reject those labels and the ideology that they define.
He also has had a long history of supporting a border wall. (see video below) and has some great takes that lead to controversy.
Citizenship must be precious, not handed out like candy in a parade. We don’t ride along and throw out citizenship like you do M&M’s or Tootsie Rolls or whatever it is we’re tossing out in our parades.
“We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies”
Steve King Border Wall Talk
We all know the left has many people far more radical than King, yet they never denounce or attack them. The right loves to punch itself. One popular personality that attacked King was Ben Shapiro. He also called for the censure of King, yet defended anti-white Sarah Jeong.
The major voting demographic for the GOP is white people, yet they never mention them directly and primarily ignore their major issues. It's not evil to care about your voting demographic.
If you can control the language, you can control the policy. Labels have been hurled in this country at people like we have never seen in this history of America. -Steve King
