Nihilism is cringe.
What do I mean?
I imagine a decent amount of people, especially gamers, remember The Last of Us. It was pretty good. The game told a sad yet hopeful father daughter survival story.
Oh? And now there’s a sequel?
What’s this? The plot leaked. Uhhh ohhhh.
The Last of Us Part 2 is cringe.
How Did We Get Here?
Not too long ago a supposed family member of one of the developers posted on 4chan.
How goofy! That's WAY too wild! No way it's true!
Then Troy Baker talks in a Fandom interview:
I want people to go in open-minded to this story, and allow Joel and Ellie to tell their story - not the story that people think that they want to be told. If people go in open-minded to this thing, I think they will have a completely different experience than if they go in close-minded.
The Big Leak & Workplace Drama
Then here comes some mega chad at Naughty Dog who decides to leak various cut-scenes, including the ending.
Here are some quotes from an anon dev.

I don’t doubt, even for a moment, that this leak came from the studio. The Last of Us Part 2 is very divisive and, as you can imagine, some of the team aren’t really thrilled to be working on the game.
“Many people would agree with me that this has been one of the worst projects they’ve ever had to work on, and that’s not just because some people disagree with the plot. Even though some of the team members are Christians and don’t necessarily agree with the game’s ‘message’, they are also professionals and can put their personal politics aside to get the job done. What really sucks about all of this is the working environment.
The team is very much divided on the game, and even voicing your concerns on its story will upset certain individuals; it usually results in said person being called closed-minded or even phobic, or some such nonsense. Some people literally have to bite their tongues or fear losing their jobs, even careers, to an outrage mob.
It was primarily the senior team that left Naughty Dog and to assume that it’s because of ‘long working hours’ is laughable. Anybody that has ever worked in game development knows that this is crock of shit. Since I can remember, development has always been like this; get to work, chug coffee and don’t leave until you’ve completed the task that you’ve been assigned for the day. It’s a part of the fun. It’s a part of the lifestyle. What’s not fun is working in a toxic environment.
What’s really sad is that nobody is allowed to talk about any of this. Many employees have left Naughty Dog because in-house politics and they are under a strict NDA and absolutely cannot discuss the studio’s ‘productions practices’ secrets. Oops!
Jonathon Cooper, an animator who left the studio, reported Neil Druckmann would force employees to sign a strict NDA or he’d withhold their final paycheck. Wow Druckmann you almost sound like a stereoty-
And hey! Speaking of animators many studio animators left so Naughty Dog had to hire Hollywood animators for this crap. It shows!
GO 70% TURNOVER
This game is fucking gross. I'm not over exaggerating.
So what exactly is the message of this game? Well the villains are Christians, or people of faith in general. Most of them are white and male. Those they oppose are minorities. Ya know, the usual.
But the game itself shits on its legacy like any nihilistic crap.
What if I told you that at TLOU2's finale you played as some tranny and brutally murdered Ellie and Joel? You'd call me retarded. It's beyond parody, BUT IT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS.
I mean, with hindsight, this probably shouldn't be too surprising. Those early trailers were pretty uncomfortable to watch. The game in general is just uncomfortable to look at. The cinematography, lighting, everything just gives real bad vibes.
It's in complete contrast to its predecessor. Sure TLOU1 has its dark moments, but it also had wholesome hopefully moments. It didn't overindulge in nihilism.
And it wasn't gay. Just a story about family.
(Ignore Left Behind that was dumb)
Compare this scene from TLOU1 to anything we've seen of TLOU2 and you'll see what I mean.
TLOU2 is yet another game franchise destroyed be relativism.
The game goes out of its way to destroy what people like. What was once a story of a father and his adopted daughter surviving and finding hope is now a story of a gay lesbian murdering people and then being killed violently by a tranny.
You have to understand that no one loves these characters more than we do, and we would not do this if we didn’t feel like we didn’t have the right idea. All I ask is that fans of the first one put some faith in us, trust we’re going to do right by them.
- Neil Druckmann
The Last of Us 2 is disgusting and deserves all the ridicule it is getting. Keep memeing on Neil's shit story.
