In a first, even for them, Apple has announced a monitor stand for $999 excluding taxes at the WWDC conference in California. The stand complements its brand new XDR monitor which sports 6K resolution and high dynamic range, targeting professional video editors and digital artists. The “Pro” stand is only rivaled in being overpriced by the generic VESA mount, which is being offered at $199. In comparison, most VESA mounts sell at prices below $30 at the time of writing.
During the same conference, Apple also announced a new Mac Pro starting at $5999 which has finally met the demands of professional users who required a stand-alone desktop unit much like the classic Mac Pro.
Sadly, this new unit looks like… a cheese grater.
This at least presented a departure from their previous much-maligned "trash can" design, meaning that Apple is finally listening to its users. Or at least, the ones with money.
