There’s irony in everything.
The release of the Netflix documentary “Alt-Right: Age of Rage,” which followed the tumultuous events of Charlottesville, Virgina, turned many of the participants into overnight stars of sorts—with attention once again being turned in the direction of the event and aftermath.
Apart from the film crew following Richard Spencer, the second person they focused on was anti-fascist activist Daryle Lamont Jenkins, who appeared on MSNBC around the time of this event. Ironically, this was not long after Joy Reid had cited Anime Right News, while Tweeting about Genie Energy and Jared Kushner.
This became a meme.
Unlike all of the conspiracy theories about Russia and the Trump administration, this was something MSNBC said that was true, but of course it was about Israel. Thus Reid was tarred and feathered for it at the time even by fellow left-wing journalists.
The MSNBC airing occurred almost immediately following Charlottesville.
This taking place after Reid had cited Anime Right News is a little funny, given the stardom now beset on such figures following the documentary's release, though Jenkins has been active for many years and was known for confronting Andrew Breitbart before his death.
Anyway, like most things to do with Reid, just have a giggle.
Jenkins later appeared on Reid's show once again this year.
