Syrian air defenses responded with a myriad of anti-aircraft fire, following attacks alleged by Israel to be targeting Iranian or "Iranian-backed" positions within Syria, leading to a number of heavy explosions over both countries.
Israel has stated that fragments from Syrian anti-aircraft missiles were found in the Golan Heights following the exchange.
Syria has claimed that it downed both aircraft and missiles utilized by the IDF but the report of an aircraft being destroyed has since been retracted. Israel began losing aircraft in the conflict earlier this year when a General Dynamics F-16 was shot down.
Syria has since filed complaints with the U.N. regarding aggression by Israel.
