Gary O’Neil, coach of the “Wolves”, confirmed the Portuguese’s departure to the Etihad Stadium

“What has changed is the offer. At that time it was lower and we had no plans to accept it,” he added.

Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Gary O’Neil confirmed the signing of Portuguese Matheus Nunes for Manchester City.

“The situation is clear,” said the coach at a press conference. “If he had returned to the group, I would have told him what I think. When I worked with him before, he worked hard and did everything he could for the club.” Then a big club comes, knocks on the door and the players want to go to Manchester City.. It is what it is, we turn the page.”

Wolves turned down an initial offer of nearly £52million from City, which resulted in the midfielder being absent from training to apply for the transfer even though he still has several years left on his contract with the “Wolves”.

However, City convinced the club this Wednesday with a new offerover 60 million euros and Nunes will be a Sky Blues player in the coming days.

“What has changed is the offer. It was lower then and we had no intention of taking it,” added O’Neil.

How the squad looks two days before the transfer market closes O’Neil assured that by the end of the signing period the team will be better than they were a week ago.
