The Blaugrana club might need a million-dollar sale in the summer but they won’t cross certain red lines

Mateu Alemany has already rated the full squad and is well aware of why players can be used

The summer promises to be postponed at Barça. Maybe not as much as in the past where squad reshuffle made for an unusually high number of market appearances, but it’s getting complicated. The open war with LaLiga with numerous episodes can cause a delicate situation with the salary limit of the new sports project. If it’s true that Barça have to cut the current figure by 200 million, the club could be forced to cross borders they don’t want on some transfers.

The board have launched an austerity plan that will affect many areas and departments at the club, but the essentials will focus on renegotiating a salary and selling footballers to earn as much as possible. The president, Joan Laporta, has always made it clear that they will try to sell footballers who don’t get many minutes and you don’t have to be very smart to single out the chosen ones, although at Barça they aren’t clear if they can enter something with these sales.

The sports division conducted a detailed market study of the entire workforce. And they already suspect that you could earn a lot of money with some footballers in moments of absolute desperation. But there are three players who will definitely not be sold for many reasons. They’re Araujo, Pedri and, oddly enough, De Jong, a footballer who was in the spotlight a few months ago but decided to stop any operation.

It’s obvious that Barça aren’t thinking of negotiating anything for ter Stegen, Gavi, Balde if he renews, or other players like Koundé, Raphinha or Lewandowski who still have a lot to amortize. And of course Xavi doesn’t want to be without players like Christensen or Kessié, even though they have offers on the table. Football Director Mateu Alemany must agree on decisions while waiting for LaLiga to take a breather and multi-million dollar offer for footballers sitting on the bench to appear.

A decision has already been made today and everything indicates that there will be a revolution in the offensive positions as long as some big-name players agree to leave. From there, the big unknown will be whether Barça will need to complete a transfer of regulars. And the shots would point at players leaving a substantial net profit or at footballers with inflated salaries that the Blaugrana club cannot pay. The game starts from now and the goal is to sell before buying, although it also needs to be strengthened to continue to delight.
