Breanna StewartLeader of the New York Liberty, scored 40 points this Tuesday in the victory over the Dallas Wings (94-93) and established the New record for points in a season WNBAwith 885by improving the mark of 860, which belonged to Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury.

Stewart, 29, had his fourth game of the year with forty or more points with his double-double of 40 and ten rebounds against the Wings. The Syracuse, New York native is having an exceptional season, averaging 23.3 points per game this season as the Liberty dominate the Eastern Conference with a 31-7 record.

Stewart improved on the mark set by Taurasi in 2006, although the legendary Mercury player did it in a 34-game season while the New Yorker did it in game number 38 of the 40 scheduled games that season. The Liberty striker also set an all-time record with his fourth game with at least forty points this year. He scored 45 points for the Indiana Fever in May, 43 for the Mercury in July and 42, again for the Fever, in August before the Forty signed against the Wings this Tuesday.

Stewart is the one Favorite to win the WNBA MVPwhose regular season ends this Sunday.
